by the sea.

While being by the sea, what are you expecting the sea to show you? What are you looking forward to finding? Can you hear it calling you to the accompaniment of oncoming waves, saying “come to me, come to me”?

Are you picking up the stones – so smooth as only sea stones can be? Filling up with them the pockets of your jacket and your rucksack, you can imagine entering the water.

Are you looking far ahead trying to see other coasts on the horizon?

Do you let the wild wind tousle your hair, raise your voice, give you a chance to breathe differently, steadily?

Can you notice other people around you? Can you hear snatches of their conversation, their laugh and words, of their joy and loneliness; what about yours? Why are they here…

…and what are you here for?

Why are you coming by the sea, what are you expecting it to give you?
